Expanding Into Universal Love
Over the years, I have discovered an enchanting recipe that universally creates greater freedom, aliveness and wellbeing in the face of any seeming difficulty — the potent transformative power of Great Love. No matter what challenges we face in our lives, good or bad, right or wrong, love truly does conquer all. Our Beloved Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., whom we honor this week as an embodiment of Universal Love, said:

“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
I am in agreement with our Beloved Dr. King.
Whenever we approach life’s dilemmas, either individually or as a society, through the lenses of “problem solving” or “fixing,” day-to-day existence can seem daunting and can take monumental effort. We may make headway in one area of life, only to find a new and different dilemma arise in another. When we focus on the so-called “problems” in our life, even in an attempt to heal them, what we manifest is more of what we focus upon. In contrast, when we place our attention on simply loving ourselves, realizing that we are whole already and that we have never been broken, our lives transform. Love becomes the foundation for how we approach life, and when we consciously and deliberately create Love as the basis of our every interaction, our lives become rich beyond measure. Love places us in the Divine Flow. We find that we are able to navigate smoothly through life like a ship traverses water — without friction. Love allows us to tap into a power far greater than that of our own self effort — the power of Grace. Through Love, we realize we are not alone. We recognize that we are supported by a benevolent Universe that is always moving us in the direction of growth — even when it may not seem like it.
With Love as our foundation, we come to embrace would-be “problems” as avenues for growth and opportunities to have more compassion for ourselves and others. In time, through our experience, we come to know and trust that contained within every single circumstance the Universe presents to us, is also the Grace to move forward into greater expansiveness.
Some of our greatest opportunities to evolve come from our interactions with other human beings. If you think about it, most of our life is a series of interactions with other people, and when we bring love into all of our relationships – not just some of them but all of them, we expand into the Universal.
This week, I share with you one of my favorite poems by Louis C. Shimon that speaks of the extraordinary power that comes from sharing our love. May it inspire you, as it has inspired me.
