Four Insights and the Nine Initiations

Traveling Peru: Four Insights and the Nine Initiations

I was trapped in my personal myth…having internalized the culture’s Judeo-Christian story of being cast out of paradise and separated from the divine creator was causing me a great deal of pain.

I was afraid to look at my own myth, for I might discover a fraud or a failure, but falling into despair and not doing anything did not sit well with me.

So I began my personal “deconstruction trip” in the Amazon of Peru.  As I write, I still see and hear the Macaws flying over my head. I had a basic idea of the medicine wheel, so starting in the south seemed appropriate because south represents shedding of the past, death and birth. South is the serpent's path. The jungle shamans guided me through a song into the world of Spirit. Imbibing the Spirit of the jungle, I began to realize I really never left the Garden of Eden. Even though I was cold and wanting a hot bath, I made my way to the Sacred Valley to meet more Shamans and see what magic lay in the mountains.

The stewards of nature in the Andes and Amazon are known as the Laika. During the Spanish Inquisition, the Laika felt the knowledge that humans have the ability to manifest our dreams was extremely powerful and it should only be in the hands of those with a strong ethical base.

The Wisdomkeepers decided to disappear into the mountains but recently they have emerged to share their knowledge. The Laika or Earthkeepers teach that all of creation is made of vibration and light. What we perceive as material is a projection onto the world. This dream or story, we believe is real even though it isn’t. Earthkeepers practices teach us how to rewrite our stories about our lives. These teachings are known as “the four insights.”

Briefly, the four insights are:

1.    The way of the hero

2.    The way of the warrior

3.    The way of the seer

4.    The way of the sage

The prophecies of the Laika tell us that we have the ability to evolve into Homo luminous in this lifetime. The training of Laika is based on the four insights--but the Earthkeeper’s training also includes an energetic aspect or a series of nine initiations. The rites are attunements and the energetic transmissions are called Munay-Ki. The Munay-Ki will transform our energetic field into that of Homo luminous -- one who resides in their transcendent nature.

Munay-Ki (The Nine Initiations)

First Rite: Known as the “bands of power.” Comprising of earth, air, fire, water, and pure light. The elements reflect negative energy and feed rather then drain our energy. In a world filled with fear, these bands are essential to maintain health and wellbeing.

Second Rite: Known as the Healer rite, connects us to the Shamans lineage that assists us in our healing during our sleep.

Third Rite: Harmony rite, where seven archetypes are transmitted into the chakras. In the first chakra the serpent is placed; jaguar goes into the second; into the third is the hummingbird; fourth is given the eagle. (I thought to myself, “Great, I like all of these creatures.”) Next three archangels are placed in the upper three chakras. The keeper of the underworld and unconscious, Huascar is transmitted into the fifth chakra; Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent, keeper of the middle world goes in the sixth; and the protector of the upper world, our super-conscious, Pachakuti, the keeper of time to come, is placed into the seventh chakra. These archetypes are transmitted as seeds that need fire to awaken them and grow. They help burn the psychic dross that has built up in the charkas so that the original light may shine.

Fourth Rite: The Seer rite is executed by extending light pathways between third-eye, the visual cortex in the back of the head, and heart charkas. This exercise brightens our ability to perceive energy around us.

Fifth Rite: The Daykeeper rite is an energetic transmission that connects you to the masters found in sacred altars around the world and shamans from the past. They were knowledgeable about the feminine earth. The rite helps us to move beyond fear and heal the feminine.

Sixth Rite: The sixth is the Wisdomkeepers rite, which allows you to tap into the wisdom of the high mountains. These are places where the human meets the divine and held in high regard. The lineage of the Wisdomkeepers are men and women who stepped out of time and defeated death. This rite helps you touch infinity.

Seventh Rite: The Earthkeepers rite connects you to a lineage of archangels, the guardians of our galaxy. The guardians help you to learn the skills of the seer and dream the world into being.

Eighth Rite: Next comes the Starkeeper rite that grounds you safely into the time of the great change, which is considered to be around 2012. It is thought that the body then begins to evolve into that of Homo luminous.

Ninth Rite: The Munay-Ki is complete with the God rite, which is an initiation to awakens the God-light. These rites are traditionally gifted by from the Laika but I’m told as one practices the insights and begins to open up to the wisdom of the Earthkeepers, one can receive the initiations directly from Spirit.

Lake Titicaca

Peru, the wisdom, teachings, experiences and beauty…I traveled everyday to ancient temples and visited archeological sites to experience a sacred ceremony lead by medicine women and men. Of course, I could not miss the legendary “City of Light,” Machu Picchu. On my inner pilgrimage, I developed new friendships and enjoyed the landscape until it came time to leave my group in the Sacred Valley near Cusco. With my interest in personal healing still intact, I reflected again on my basic knowledge of the Medicine wheel and decided to continue my journey into the feminine. I was drawn to Lake Titikaka where the Sun and the Moon gave birth to the legendary first Inca. I hopped on a bus and made the nine-hour ride to Puno.

Upon my arrival, Lake Titicaca stretched before me like a sea, sitting atop the world at 12,000 feet high and a massive 120 miles long. I boarded a boat that first took me to the floating handmade reed islands of the Uru peoples whose myth of origin points to Sirius, the Dog Star. We continued to the island of Amantani and Taquile.

I deeply wanted to extend my stay and travel into Bolivia where the Island of the Sun and Island of the Moon are located. It was time to fly to the Northern Hemisphere where I had left upstate New York during our long awaited and spectacular summer. Refreshed and newly inspired, I made my way back to the states…but of course I do already have a return plan in place. I want to dive deeper into the Sacred Valley, to move from master to seer. Walking the Inca trail is next!
