Papa's Love Wisdom

My grandfather was a precious man.

I find it hard to believe that he has been gone 24 years now because I still strongly feel his positive influence on me.

Papa was a Kentucky gentleman with a soft drawl, and his words ran together in a beautiful melody that sounded like honey dripping. He had love for nature and an innate ability to pull wisdom from the examples he saw in the natural world.

One day I remember him sharing the most profound insight on love. Now, I don’t know if he came up with this saying or remembered reading it somewhere, but I do clearly remember him saying:

“Love is like the morning dew, it is just as apt to fall upon a flower as it is to fall upon a horse’s butt.”

I think that is the clearest insight I have ever heard about love!

How perfect. Haven't we all watched our love "fall" on flowers and horse's butts?! Sometimes one masquerades as the other! Ain't life grand? I love getting older, wiser and more flexible as time goes by. Thank you Ja-lene and Jo Ann for creating Gathering Insight! I'm looking forward to learning more. Big Hugs, Kate
