Who could miss the recent TV series, Republican Politics? Every station is focused on the “race” to the White House with opinions and unconscious rhetoric running rampant. I must admit I am mildly curious, but get turned off when the voices become abusive and downright nasty.
I made a new friend yesterday, a retired navy aviator, intelligent and informed. He forwarded me an email that really gave me a wake up call to revisit my own values around voting. It wasn’t the email content but the slanderous subject line that upset me, so nasty I don’t even want to repeat it. Apparently, as it was stated, this was recently passed without anyone knowing about it. (So what’s new I wondered.) The email went on to talk about the “Dream Act.” So I went onto the internet to find out exactly what the Dream Act was all about. Here is what I found at DreamAct.info/students:

This information is based on the current legislation introduced on March 26, 2009 by Senator Richard Durbin and Representative Howard Berman.
Purpose The purpose of the Development, Relief and Education of Alien Minors Act, also called the DREAM Act, is to help those individuals who meet certain requirements, have an opportunity to enlist in the military or go to college and have a path to citizenship which they otherwise would not have without this legislation. Supporters of the DREAM Act believe it is vital not only to the people who would benefit from it, but also the United States as a whole. It would give an opportunity to undocumented immigrant students who have been living in the U.S. since they were young, a chance to contribute back to the country that has given so much to them and a chance to utilize their hard earned education and talents.
Would I qualify? The following is a list of specific requirements one would need in order to qualify for the current version of the DREAM Act.
▪ Must have entered the United States before the age of 16 (i.e. 15 and younger) ▪ Must have been present in the United States for at least five (5) consecutive years prior to enactment of the bill ▪ Must have graduated from a United States high school, or have obtained a GED, or have been accepted into an institution of higher education (i.e. college/university) ▪ Must be between the ages of 12 and 35 at the time of application ▪ Must have good moral character

After reading this then I began to wonder if I wrote a Dream Act what would it be? My dream act would include the restoration of Joy and Goodness, which is our birthright no matter where we are born. This kind of liberty does not come with a citizenship card and there are no requirements necessary for me to live my dream.
My commitment to my own personal “dream act” is to deliberately live my life beyond limitations. Years ago I remember feeling powerless in the shadow of big business and big government and I had an epiphany during a discussion with some friends on “why bother to vote.” I create my own reality and I can have it the way I want it. Whew that is a big statement, but I then thought, “well it can’t hurt to vote.”
Before I voted I deliberately saw then felt a positive outcome for our world. I voted for the person I felt most positive about and allowed myself to believe in the desired outcome. But in this there is a trap to avoid. DO NO HARM. Don’t make your mind up on whom to vote for by condemning the other party. No excuses. No finger pointing to justify your choice. Simply this… “I really like this candidate, he/she best represents my values and my dream for my country.” It’s a challenge but you can do it!
I believe we all have the power to focus on the positive outcome of what we want. My dream of Healing The Heart of Humanity from the false belief that we must condemn [fill in the blank] to get what we want will come to pass.
Our forefathers set in motion an extraordinary plan for a better world. This better world vision has matured to become one in which everyone is allowed to believe in their own dream and act that dream out however they want to. The Kahunas (priest or minister; someone who is an expert) have one commandment, Do No Harm. In my world that commandment is to be practiced on every level of government, taught in schools and religions. Believe it or not this is your wake up call too, as we watch the dance, especially now in politics which sometimes looks like a whirling dervish, stay true to your dream for our country and our world, vote your heart blessing all the others who worked long and hard for your favor. Let’s dream of a world blessed with abundance and plenty, our birthright in response will absolutely appear.
