Munishwarji:
Forever Young
Today, I am reminded that “youth” has nothing to do with the number of solar revolutions that we have spent on this planet. Rather, it is a state of mind, and more importantly, a State of Heart. As I approach another birthday next Monday, February 27, I am fortunate to have several extraordinary Beings who have taught me much about “Youthing,” and I am so blessed to feel “Young at Heart.”
This past weekend, I had the privilege of hearing one of my Beloved Teachers, Rev. Dr. Joyce Rennolds (www.joycerennolds.com) deliver a powerful talk at the Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta. Joyce is in her mid-seventies, as lovely and radiant as ever, and is absolutely ON FIRE! — at the peak of her Spiritual Wisdom and leading a life filled with the Joy of Knowing Spirit. In her talk, I heard her quote, “Your body is just a thought,” and I knew the profound truth of this teaching, as she is the very embodiment of it. I was reminded that what we think creates our experience of life — down to every last detail — even our physical body. I find this to be incredibly encouraging news, because if we want to change our body and our health, we begin by simply changing our thoughts, remembering that all thought is creative, and that the thoughts we focus upon manifest into physicality.
In my own personal experience, one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from my Yogic studies is to remain flexible in Consciousness – to bend, to adapt, to grow, to embrace the process of expansion as Everlasting and Neverending. I recently met a wonderful woman, Sophie Belza, mother of my dear friend Joyce Stech, who embraced the study of Yogic Philosophy at 92 years of age—a discipline that was new to her, yet created the space for profound realization that she experienced during her final days on Planet Earth. Today, I honor her crossing into the Beyond and her example of the tremendous Evolution that is possible at any stage in life when we remain flexible in Consciousness. I dedicate this article in her loving memory.
One of the greatest and most fun ways that we can remain flexible and youthful is to spend time with young people and to be open, receptive and embracing of the new ways of thinking, being and relating that we are certain to encounter. We will receive the most when we realize that the youth of today are our Teachers and that we can make Evolutionary Quantum Leaps in their Presence. Lord Jesus said that to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, we must be like little children. In other words, we must unlearn the habit we have formed of taking life so seriously and approach the world with childlike wonder! In that spirit, I’m taking the rest of this Monday off and going to see Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 3D with two of my greatest 20-year-old Teachers.
May you have a glorious week and may you be blessed with the gift of Play!
